Lists need to be out there because some people have no idea of where/what they are lacking.  Some people don't know what they should be bringing to the table or if they should be bringing anything to the table.   Make your list but make sure you have what that dream man/woman is looking for too.  The problem with some people who make lists is they never take the time to find out what that dream person wants.... it may be a lot or it could be nothing.  Then you have to decide if they are still dreamy after all.

I'm married but I've always worked on me first.  I wanted to make sure I was together before I even thought about writing my list and then I reworked it when I found out what "he" was looking for and whether I could live up to it or not.  Prior to getting married I dated some guys who were really nice but I knew I couldn't live up to their expectations of me.    Men who put too much emphasis on looks were scratched off the list because beauty fades and I wasn't about to get involved with someone so shallow who would dump me for a newer model.

People who have messy business need to really stop and think when their dream person pursues them.   One of my husband's friends said he lost interest in a woman because she actually entertained the thought of going out with him.  He knew his life was messed up and for her to show interest in him meant that she couldn't have it all together like he thought. LOL!

stupidly hilarious.  was he just practicing? LOL!!!

reminds me of something i heard michael baisden say on the radio once - topic was (not to veer off) but infidelity and he's talking about his own experiences.  he got caught, the wife stayed and then he left her b/c he no longer respected her for her decision to stay with a man who didn't.   can you be f*&&!%$ up and deep at the same time?
:rofl2:

I don't think I've got much to say on this one.

Personally I don't have a list or a type.  When I come across what I like I know it and pursue it or at least flirt my butt off so he can pursue me.  I'm not in for sport dating so if from jump I can't see you being someone I can stick with long term its not worth wasting both of our times.

Just because I know I may not be the perfect catch doesn't mean I'm not working on me nor does it mean i'm willing to settle for someone that cannot elevate me-as we all know the saying goes: "I can do bad all by myself!"

After reading all these post I beginning to wonder am I the ONLY person who didn't have a list? I promise the last time I did a list I was probaly in junior high. And the ONLY reason I did one then was because me and my homegirls were doing the "When I grow up and get married game".

The ONLY major factor I have always had is to not date a brotha with more kids then me, and once my son reached "16" I refuse to date anyway who had elementary age children.

I think at my age (33) I can't have the rule about kids anymore.  For a long time I wouldn't date guys with kids, mostly because I like to be spontaneous and didn't wanna deal with baby mama drama.  But heck most my age have a kid or two and maybe an ex wife as well.

The types of men I've dated in the past have run the full spectrum...I don't see the point in limiting myself.
